\n
\n1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
\nTeachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
\n
\nTeachers:
\na. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
\n
\nExample:
\nBy using the Animoto software we can model creativity and allow are students to make their own movies using what they have seen in Animoto. They can even use other programs like Windows Movie Maker to harbor their own creativity.
\n
\nb. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
\n
\nExample:
\nStudents are engaged when they do something they love. By using voicethreads or webcams they can communicate with others across the globe about real-world issues. They can even attempt to solve these issues by collaborating with other classes around the world.
\n
\nc. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students\u2019 conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
\n
\nExample:
\nBy planning a lesson for the entire class using photostory or even smilebox, students can share their ideas with the rest of the class. Sites like Wikispace allows students to take this collaboration to the next level and critique each other. Voice thread could be useful for this too. Teachers can look at, assess, and make suggestions to the presentations or projects the students make.
\n
\nd. model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments
\n
\nExample:
\nAs said before, it is very powerful to be able to talk with others on a webcam or by voicethread. Collaboration can take place and students can share their new-found knowledge with virtually anyone, even students coming to their grade level next year.
\n
\nWow! What a difference technology makes!

I am sure I don't know half of them. I am looking forward to learning about and using each and every tool available.
\na) Modeling - Everyday we can model using technology - from researching on the Internet, downloading photos, using SmartBoard lessons, etc. I have found that students want to find the same websites at home and do the activities we did in class.
\nb) Engage -When beginning our unit on the solar system, students named Pluto as the 9th planet. I made each group research whether to consider Pluto. All groups found that Pluto was not considered a planet, but a dwarf. So, they all used Pluto in their research!!! Sentiment won over science. However, this is a real-world issue that is of interest to students. Using digital cameras to record streamtable activity
\nto simulate and record actions that would occur over millions of years is what a real-life scientist would do.
\nc)I can see the value of students sharing reflections with others. I have not used any communication web tools but I can't wait. It would be the teacher's responsibility to make sure this avenue is available to students.
\nd) I think when a teacher says "Let's see what we can learn?" and then learns with the teacher, a powerful lesson is learned. I know this can be done with research. I am excited to see what other tools can be used to accomplish this.

\nLet's all learn together.
